Article: Scan predicts whether nurses will drop out or leave

"With the results of the 'Frenettiscan', predictions can be made about which nurses will soon look for another job out of dissatisfaction or call in sick because of the workload. According to the developer of the scan, this can be prevented by taking preventive measures.

Acquiring expertise At the Medical Center Leeuwarden (MCL), almost all nurses - around nine hundred - have completed the Frenetti scan. The MCL wants to give everyone a personal development plan with training opportunities. In the MCL, the sans are part of a broader initiative to give nurses more to say. All those scans also come with results. The turnover rate among nurses in the MCL has decreased in 5 years. Nurses are also less likely to change departments because they have found new challenges in their own departments. This has consequences for the level of expertise of a department. 'Acquiring expertise in a department is possible if people stay in the same place for a longer period of time,' says Vasse. S. Bremmers, Journalist Zorgvisie, Skipr and Qruxx (2024)

Article: MCL nurses take over multidisciplinary consultations

Personal development plan "To find out more about what role nurses want to play within a team, now and in the future, the MCL used the 'Frenettiscan' [...] Based on the professionalism scan, a development plan is made for each nurse that they can use in the coming year. […] After a year, the nurse makes the scan again, which shows a development. More critical view The result of this approach - the project has been given the name Floor in the MCL - is that nurses have started to think much more critically about the state of affairs in the hospital and have gained more independence. A concrete elaboration of this is that the nurses in a number of departments bring in the patient during the multidisciplinary consultation, and not the medical specialists. The consultation is also led by a bachelor's nurse. After the input of the nurses, the other disciplines may supplement. […] The nurses are working with the patient 24/7. The doctors had to get used to it, and they found it exciting, but it went well. […] So we have taken a little more control in the department." S. Bremmers, Journalist Zorgvisie, Skipr and Qruxx (2024). Translated from Dutch to English.

Research program: Nursing leadership in hospital practice

"The results of the Frenetti professionalism scan at the hospital level provide a clear insight into which competencies nurses feel competent and less competent. In addition, the use of the Frenetti professionalism scan offers the opportunity to further investigate which competencies require further development, creating a focus on which work can be done". Dr M. van der Cingel (2022). Read the publication in Dutch - Flemish scientific journal Nursing here.

Article: Smart metering makes upskilling nurses more effective

"The shortage on the labour market is great. It is difficult to get expert staff. What could be more obvious than to specifically investigate the training needs of our own employees? [...] More and more hospitals are using an assessment method that maps out whether the skills of nurses match the care severity of a department. [...] “ E. Bassant, Editor in chief, Zorgvisie (2018)
